If you are a junior or senior in high school and are thinking about which college or university you would like to attend, why not consider the City University of New York? Some people are just naturally born for the big city. There are extensions of this university in all five boroughs of New York City. Founded in 1847, this university now boasts of having over 480,000 students who attend its twenty-three institutions and colleges in New York City.
This university has over 1,750 excellent academic programs for those students who are seeking degrees. You will be able to either get a bachelor’s or an associate’s degree. The student who is studying for a bachelor’s degree has to earn 120 credits while the student who is studying for an associate’s degree will have to earn 60 credits.
For a full time student going to this university who lives in the state the tuition is $5,130 per year and for an out-of-state resident it is $13,800 per year plus $460 per credit. There are also fees that have to be paid. Technology fees run for an in-state student are $100.00 per semester and for a part-time student they only have to pay $50.00 per semester. Activity fees paid by full-time students will run anywhere from $58 to $138.00 and the part-time student will, of course, pay less. A consolidated service fee is paid by both in- and out-of-state of $15. There are new dormitories for those students who can’t put any more money out for rent, but there are also apartments near to the university that students can rent.
Besides studying, there are plenty of activities to keep the student well-rounded. Here are some of the activities that a student may feel drawn to participate in: Accounting – Chemical Technology, Chemistry – Dental Laboratory Technology, Dietetics – English – Greek, Health – Management, Maritime Technology – Ophthalmic Dispensing, Optometry – Science(s) and Secretarial Science – Women’s- Studies.
The campuses of this New York University have the most up-to-date facilities for recreation as well as competitive sports. Many opportunities are provided for their students to participate in recreational, intercollegiate and intramural athletics. If you attend the four-year university, there are varsity teams competing in the “National Collegiate Athletic Association”; the community college teams are able to compete in the “National Junior Athletic Association”( NJCAA). There are fourteen sports that men and women can compete at in the varsity level.
