University of Southern California
The University of Southern California is the oldest private research university in California. They were founded in 1880 and they are located in Los Angeles, California and they have a student population of roughly 40,000 students in both undergraduate and graduate programs. They are frequently listed as one of the best universities in America and it is world renowned. Their alumni network expands all over the world as it includes many respected actors, politicians and business people such as Dr. Drew Pinsky, Lisa Ling, and Judd Apatow.
Academics, Enrollment, and Tuition
USC already has an excellent reputation for its academics, but it is especially known for the film program as well as the business program. Their film studies program includes everything from production, screenwriting, acting and directing. Many famous actors, writers, directors, producers and Hollywood executives have attended the school and they have extensive resources and equipment available to all film students. Their business school offers one of the most highly ranked MBA programs in the country and they offer a focus on global business. They have other programs for music, occupational therapy, gerontology, architecture, education, engineering, law, communications, medicine, pharmacy, social work, dentistry and public policy.
Their endowment is over $2 Billion and they offer financial aid, scholarships and loans to all students that qualify. The tuition for undergraduate students is roughly $42,162, but it can increase to $57, 876 with all of the additional costs added to the figure. The graduate and certificate programs have different tuition rates depending on the specific department and program.
Housing
The University of Southern California is situated in a neighborhood called University Park in Southern Los Angeles. The university offers on campus housing to both undergraduate and graduate students. University is available to most students, but it is not guaranteed, so it is best to have other arrangements just in case. Campus housing plans are also accompanied with meal plans. Athletics
Athletics are a very large part of the university. Their athletic teams are called the Trojans and they have one of the best athletic programs in the country as their teams have collectively won 114 national championships for both Non-NCCA and NCAA games. Their athletic rosters have always featured gold-winning Olympic athletes who have won 112 gold medals alone. They offer many different athletic programs such as swimming, diving, volley ball, water polo, baseball, tennis, track and field, gymnastics, football and golf. Many of their athletes have gone on to play in professional sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA and NBL.
