Auburn History
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College. Following name changes that included the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama and Alabama Polytechnic Institute it officially became known as Auburn University in 1960. It has grown and established rich traditions and has a very loyal and fervent following especially of their beloved football team.
Enrollment
Current enrollment is over 24,000 students per year of which approximately 20,000 are in undergraduate programs. The ratio of male to female students is approximately 1 to 1.
